BNGO - Bionano up 3% premarket following prototype of optical genome mapping system
Shares of Bionano Genomics (NASDAQ:BNGO) are up 3% premarket after announcing a prototype of a new single molecule imaging system for optical genome mapping ("OGM"). The company says the system is capable of providing the most comprehensive, reliable, and cost-effective solution for detecting structural variations. An OGM is made of four stages: (i) ultra-high molecular weight DNA isolation; (ii) sequence-specific DNA labeling; (iii) single molecule linearization & imaging; and (iv) data processing and analysis. Bionano says the new system images DNA at a rate of ~820 Gbp per hour compared to 205 Gbp per hour with its existing Saphyr system. A commercial system based on the prototype is expected to be released in 1H 2023. Oppenheimer recently rated Bionano a buy.
