OCGN - CDC to review data on COVID-19 vaccine booster shots
Amid rising cases of Delta variant of coronavirus, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advisory panel will meet on Friday to discuss considerations for booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines, Reuters reports. The meeting is also expected to discuss updates on additional doses in immune compromised individuals. With the spread of the highly transmissible Delta variant, the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer/BioNTech has dropped and therefore Israel has already started administering booster shots to people aged 60 and above. Also, Britain, Germany and France have announced plans to inoculate their populations with COVID-19 booster shots. In U.S., the FDA expects to have COVID vaccine booster strategy early next month. President Biden's administration believes that vulnerable Americans will need booster shots.
