The phrases "blue chip", "long-term", and "value" are used too frequently together by a great many stock writers. The truth is, it is very rare to find a blue-chip company that has long-term growth potential exceeding that of the wider market also trading at value prices. One of the main reasons I don't usually use a long-term buy-&-hold investing approach isn't because I disagree with the notion that buying and holding the stock of a great company is a great way to invest, it's because most of the best companies are known by market
