ETR - Entergy seeks FERC waiver for some gas-fired coal-fired plants

Entergy ( NYSE: ETR ) is seeking a waiver from some new seasonal capacity accreditation requirements in Midcontinent Independent System Operator, saying the new approach decreases the capacity value of some fossil fuel-fired plants and may cause a capacity shortfall in Mississippi, S&P Global Platts reported Tuesday.

"Entergy Arkansas and Entergy Mississippi are facing dramatic decreases in the capacity accreditation of the resources due to the application of MISO's new accreditation methodology," Entergy ( ETR ) said in a waiver request filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, as reported by S&P Global Platts .

The new MISO rules cut accreditation for one of Entergy Mississippi's ( ETR ) largest gas-fired units by 25%, according to the waiver request, which also asked FERC to grant the waiver by March 7, in time for a critical auction that will close at the end of the month.

Entergy ( ETR ) recently reported Q4 adjusted earnings of $0.51/share and initiated FY 2023 EPS guidance .
