ETR - Entergy to add 1000 MW of renewable power in Mississippi over five years
Entergy (NYSE:ETR) says it plans to shut down some aging natural gas-fired power plants over the next five years and add 1 GW of renewable energy sources such as solar power by 2027. Under its new Economic Development with Green Energy, or EDGE, initiative, Entergy Mississippi says it will add 500 MW of renewable power by 2025, and another 500 MW by 2027. The company says renewable sources, which currently comprise less than 1% of its power generating capability, would grow to 17% by 2025 and nearly one-third by 2027. Entergy Mississippi, which runs six gas-fired plants in the state, has not said which facilities it will close. Entergy looks poised to continue to grow its adjusted EPS at a 5-7% CAGR over the next few years, Power Hedge writes in an analysis published recently on Seeking Alpha.
