CCJ - Hot Stocks: Uranium stocks heat up; RRD bidding war; BIRD IPO; PLTK HY drop on earnings
The Federal Reserve surprised no one on Wednesday by announcing the start of its asset-purchase taper, a fact that contributed to a modest rally on Wall Street. It was pretty much the exact opposite of a nuclear reaction. By contrast, the uranium sector really did see the equivalent of a nuclear reaction despite the overall market's rather staid trading. An upgrade of Cameco (NYSE:CCJ) encouraged a buying spree throughout the sector. Energy Fuels Inc. (NYSE:UUUU), Uranium Energy Corp. (NYSE:UEC) and NexGen Energy (NYSE:NXE) all posted gains as well, with many names in the space setting new 52-week highs. Speaking of new peaks, marketing-communications and firm R.R. Donnelley (NYSE:RRD) also rallied to fresh heights as a bidding war for the company heated up. Meanwhile, Allbirds (NASDAQ:BIRD) was another standout gainer on the day.
