OCGN - Israel expands COVID-19 booster shot eligibility to people over 40 teachers
Amid surge in number of new daily coronavirus cases as Delta variant spreads, Israel has approved offering a third dose of Pfizer (NYSE:PFE)/BioNTech (NASDAQ:BNTX) COVID-19 vaccine to people of age above 40 and teachers - Reuters. The third dose will only be given to people who had received second shot at least five months ago. The Health Ministry's expert advisory panel also recommended administering third shot to pregnant women. Israel began administering third doses to people over 60 in July, later dropping the minimum age of eligibility to 50 and offering boosters to health workers and others. The expansion of booster eligibility comes a day after the U.S. announced plans to offer third doses of Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA) vaccine to all Americans.
