KTOS - Kratos to invest ~$8.6M in Birmingham advanced concepts engineering facility

• Kratos Defense & Security Solutions ( NASDAQ: KTOS ) has announced plans to invest ~$8.6M in its Birmingham advanced concepts engineering facility over the next five years.
• The investment is part of the company’s overall strategy to expand technology capabilities in areas related to hypersonics. The project will generate 76 jobs that will include a mixture of engineers, technicians and support staff.
• In May, the defense contractor acquired the engineering division of Birmingham-based Southern Research in an $80M asset transaction. The deal established an advanced concept group, Kratos SRE, within Kratos’ Defense & Rocket Support Services Division.
• The growth plans will be supported by critical enhancement programs provided by the State of Alabama, Jefferson County and the City of Birmingham.
