MSFT - Microsoft discloses Teams has 280M MAUs as company launches new version

While unveiling a new version of its Teams messaging service, Microsoft ( NASDAQ: MSFT ) disclosed on Monday that Teams now has 280M monthly active users.
In a blog post , Microsoft ( MSFT ) said the "reimagining of Teams from the ground up" would lead to better performance and require less power.
"The new app is built on a foundation of speed, performance, flexibility, and intelligence—delivering up to two times faster performance while using 50 percent less memory so you can save time and collaborate more efficiently," Microsoft wrote in the post.
In addition, Microsoft ( MSFT ) said it had "streamlined the user experience," making it easier and simpler for users to find everything in one place.
The 280M figure is up from 270M last January and 250M in July 2021. Slack, which competes with Teams and is owned by Salesforce ( CRM ), is reported to have roughly 20M active users.
The new version of Teams is available now for Windows users who are part of the Public Preview program and will be coming to all users later this year.
Microsoft ( MSFT ) shares were down roughly 1% in mid-day trading on Monday.
Investment firm Citi recently raised the odds that Microsoft ( MSFT ) closes its acquisition of Activision ( ATVI ) to 70% after recent comments put forth by the U.K. antitrust regulator .
