QCOM - Qualcomm objects to Nvidia's Arm acquisition as FTC probes deal
Qualcomm (QCOM) has reportedly told regulators in the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, and China that the company doesn't support Nvidia's (NVDA) $40 billion acquisition of SoftBank's ([[SFTBF]],[[SFTBY]]) Arm chip unit.Qualcomm is worried Nvidia would limit other chipmakers from accessing Arm intellectual property. Arm's chip architecture is used in 95% of the world's smartphones, and Arm licenses its chip designs to more than 500 companies.The Federal Trade Commission is said to have entered the "second phase" of its antitrust investigation into the deal and has asked SoftBank, Arm, and Nvidia to provide more information.Source: CNBC sources.
