QCOM - Qualcomm unveils high-speed 5G modem for 2021 launch

Qualcomm (QCOM) unveils the Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System, the company's fourth-generation 5G modem-to-antenna solution and the follow-up to the X60."Snapdragon X65 is the Company’s biggest leap in 5G solutions since the commercialization of its first modem-RF system. It is designed to support the fastest 5G speeds currently available with fiber-like wireless performance and makes best use of available spectrum for ultimate network flexibility, capacity and coverage," says Qualcomm.The company says the Snapdragon X65 is the world’s first 10 Gigabit 5G and the first 3GPP release 16 modem-RF system.Supporting the 3GPP standard helps with improved cellular connectivity and power efficiency. The max 10Gbps improves on the X60's 7.5Gbps max, but there currently aren't any 5G networks that can deliver these speeds, anyway.The included antenna is QCOM's QTM545 mmWave, which adds support for global mmWave frequencies. The modem comes with AI tuning technology that is meant to auto-detect when to switch antennas for better connectivity.The
