SDC - SmileDirectClub to enhance customer support in a new program

SmileDirectClub ([[SDC]] -2.1%) has announced a new initiative called Lifetime Smile Guarantee to offer qualifying customers one free set of aligners on an annual basis.Under the program, the customers who complete its clear aligner therapy and order two retainers per year are eligible to receive new aligners if a dentist or orthodontist determines as necessary to achieve the desired treatment outcome, the company said.Noting that teeth move naturally throughout one’s life even after completing a teeth straightening treatment, Jeffrey Sulitzer, the chief clinical officer at SmileDirectClub said that the new program ‘ensures our Club Members can keep their new smile for life and reap the additional benefits.’An NBC news report in 2020 that highlighted certain customer complaints regarding SmileDirectClub’s aligner therapy wiped off ~$950M of its market cap prompting the company to take legal action against the broadcaster.
