TXT - Textron said to win patent case against Chinese drone maker DJI

Textron ( NYSE: TXT ) won a $279 million verdict in a patent infringement lawsuit against DJI Technology, a Chinese maker of commercial drones, Reuters reported Monday.

A jury in Waco, Texas, determined that DJI's drones violated two patents held by Textron Innovations, a unit of the multi-industry conglomerate. Textron ( TXT ) had sued DJI in 2021, alleging several models of drones with automatic hovering features infringed on the patents.

In a statement, DJI said it disagreed with the verdict and will "vigorously pursue all options." Textron ( TXT ) said it was pleased with the verdict.

The U.S. Department of Defense last year added DJI to its list of Chinese companies in which Americans are not allowed to invest because of alleged ties to China's military. DJI denied the allegation.
