CA - U.S. Army Corps extends deadline to comment on Pebble mining project

Northern Dynasty Minerals ( NYSE: NAK ) +0.7% in Monday's trading after saying the Alaska district of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers extended a deadline to comment on future plans related to its Pebble copper mining project to June 29, after the original deadline expired on June 9.
On May 1 , the Army Corps' Pacific Ocean Division had given the Alaska District 45 days to re-evaluate the appeal decision and notify the parties how it plans to proceed in light of the final determination by the Environmental Protection Agency.
Northern Dynasty ( NAK ) had maintained the position that the process of the final record decision for the project was not properly followed.
The EPA appeared to effectively block the mine in January in a separate process when it said the mine would cause "unacceptable adverse effects on salmon fishery areas."
