LMT - U.S. State Department approves sale of F-35 fighter jets to Czech Republic

The U.S. State Department approved the sale of F-35 fighter jets and other equipment to the Czech Republic in a deal valued at as much as $5.62 billion, according to the Pentagon.
The Department of Defense’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress of the possible sale on Thursday. The notification doesn’t mean the countries have reached a deal on the sale.
The main contractors for the military gear Lockheed Martin ( NYSE: LMT ), Raytheon ( NYSE: RTX ) and Boeing ( NYSE: BA ). As part of the approved sale, the Czech Republic would receive an extra jet engine, 70 AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs) and other munitions and support equipment, the Pentagon said.
Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and Jana Cernochova, defense minister of the Czech Republic, last month signed a security cooperation agreement to strengthen defense ties.
The Czech Republic last year said it wanted to buy 24 F-35’s to replace Gripen fighters from Sweden's Saab AB ( OTCPK:SAABF ) ( OTCPK:SAABY ).
