  • Viracta Therapeutics ( NASDAQ: VIRX ) on Monday appointed Mark Rothera as its president and CEO, succeeding Ivor Royston.
  • Royston will continue to serve as a member of VIRX's board, the company said in a statement .
  • VIRX said Rothera had more than 30 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Prior to joining VIRX, Rothera was CEO of Silence Therapeutics ( SLN ). He also previously served as the top boss at Orchard Therapeutics ( ORTX ).
  • VIRX stock -4.2% to $5.45 in premarket trading.
