Sports betting could expand to new states if voters approve ballot initiatives.Voters in Maryland will be asked if they favor the expansion of commercial gaming in the State of Maryland to authorize sports and event betting for the primary purpose of raising revenue for education. South Dakota residents will vote on legalizing sports betting within the city limits of Deadwood, South Dakota. Louisiana will vote on sports wagering on a parish by parish basis. On-site retail sports betting would be allowed at the state's existing riverboat casinos, the New Orleans' Harrah’s land-based casino and at racetracks around the state. If three gaming-related measures are passed in Nebraska, the state will be able to introduce casinos at state-licensed race tracks and expand its gambling measures to possibly include sports betting down the road.
