WPRT - Westport Scania to team on direct injected hydrogen engine research project

Westport Fuel Systems ([[WPRT]] +12.7%) pops higher at the open after agreeing to launch a research project with truck and bus manufacturer Scania (SCV.B) to apply its HPDI 2.0 fuel system with hydrogen to the latest Scania commercial vehicle engine."Hydrogen use in an internal combustion engine with our HPDI fuel system could offer another cost-competitive pathway to reduce CO2 emissions from transportation," Westport CEO David Johnson says.WPRT shares have surged to their highest levels since mid-2014, rising more than 5x over the past six months.
