XRX - Xerox deploys first metal 3D printer on US Navy ship

• Xerox ( NASDAQ: XRX ) shares gained pre-market after the company announced that an ElemX liquid metal printer was deployed on board the USS Essex naval vessel recently.
• The printer was deployed on the ship earlier this month in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, with at-sea trials beginning immediately. This makes ElemX the first metal additive manufacturing machine deployed on a US Navy vessel.
• The installation marks the latest step in by the US Navy to implement additive manufacturing capabilities to increase fleet readiness.
• The ElemX uses Xerox’s liquid metal AM technology and standard aluminum wire, without the use of hazardous metal powders, special facility modifications or personal protective equipment. It has been installed in an industrial shipping container to ruggedize it for various sea states and environmental challenges.
• Shares are up +1.10% pre-market.
