Three new electric vehicles (EVs) have been awarded the prestigious Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ award. The recipients are the 2023 models of the Hyundai (OTC:HYMTF) Ioniq 6, Lexus (OTC:TOYOF) RZ and Genesis Electrified GV70, Electrek reported.
The vehicles successfully passed all six of the IIHS' crash tests and were rated “advanced” or “superior” for their front crash avoidance systems.
Additionally, pedestrian safety has become increasingly critical with the recent surge in pedestrian deaths. The “plus” rating also entails meeting extra requirements for headlight quality, which must be standard across all trims.
