Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X, formerly known as Twitter, faced a challenging public introduction at the annual Code Conference.
Yaccarino, previously the head of global advertising at NBCUniversal, was set to make her first significant public appearance since her appointment. However, an unexpected schedule change rattled the new CEO.
Business Insider reported that an abrupt addition of a new panel featuring Yoel Roth, former head of Twitter’s trust and safety department and vocal critic of Tesla Inc CEO Elon Musk, threw a wrench in Yaccarino’s debut. This last-minute change led to criticisms of conference organizers, with accusations of “sandbagging” Yaccarino.
The new CEO took the stage shortly after Roth, visibly shaken. Audience members described her performance as a “dumpster fire” and likened it to watching a car crash.
