ByteDance-owned TikTok and Meta Platforms Inc.’s (NASDAQ:META) Instagram continues to maintain their dominance as the world’s most downloaded apps in September, while Elon Musk’s X and Mark Zuckerberg’s Threads remain notably absent from the rankings.
What Happened: In September, TikTok once again clinched the title of the most downloaded app globally, with an impressive 50 million new downloads. This marked a slight dip from August but reaffirmed TikTok’s unwavering popularity.
Meta’s trio of social media giants—Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp—followed closely behind TikTok. While their rankings remained consistent with the previous month, the overall downloads declined, according to app intelligence platform Appfigures.
