Strong earnings from Nvidia pushed the Nasdaq futures higher in premarket trading on Thursday. This followed a modest decline posted in the previous day. Here are some stocks to watch on Thursday:
- Nvidia ( NASDAQ: NVDA ) soared more than 27% in premarket trading after the semiconductor giant reported Street-beating results and issued a standout forecast. The company recorded Q1 revenue of $7.19B, down 13% from last year but 19% higher than the previous quarter. For Q2, NVDA predicted revenue of $11B, well above analysts' projection.
- The release of earnings news prompted a premarket surge in Best Buy ( BBY ). While the electronics retailer announced revenue that dropped 11% from last year, the firm's earnings figure came in above analysts' consensus. Shares rose about 5% before the opening bell.
- Medtronic ( MDT ) reported quarterly results that topped projections on its top and bottom line. However, the firm issued a 2024 forecast below analysts' projection, with the medical device maker predicting non-GAAP EPS for the year of $5.00-$5.10. Wall Street experts were looking for $5.20.
- Costco ( COST ) is slated to announce its quarterly results after the closing bell. Analysts expect the firm to post a profit of $3.31 per share, with revenue rising about 3% to $54.6B. With gains seen early in the year, shares of the retailer have climbed about 7% so far in 2023.
