Air Canada ( OTCQX:ACDVF ) says it is nearing pre-pandemic levels of employment as it seeks to increase capacity and reduce delays.
“Air Canada has been prudently restoring its schedule as it recovers from the effects of COVID-19 and this summer it plans to operate 79% of its pre-pandemic capacity as the industry stabilizes,” the company stated on Wednesday. “In support of this, the carrier has recalled employees laid off during the pandemic and continues to hire additional workers.”
As of Wednesday, the carrier touted 34K employees as compared to 34.7K in 2019.
Amid the hiring surge, a 48% reduction in delays was effected through much of the summer. The average time of delays was reduced by nearly 60% as well.
