- Allison Transmission ( NYSE: ALSN ) said Wednesday it will provide the X1100TM-5B propulsion solution for the U.S. Army's new M88A3 Hercules prototype vehicle.
- The vehicle will be equipped with ALSN's X1100TM-5B, a propulsion system based on the Abrams Main Battle Tank drivetrain solution.
- ALSN will also provide its new advanced electronic controls system and new final drive components.
- This initiative represents over $37M in engineering design, development, fabrication, testing and demonstration funds for ALSN's X1100TM-5B for M88A3 Hercules prototype vehicles through 2023.
- The Army is expected to transition to production in early 2024.
- There are currently over 900 M88 vehicles in the Army.
