Alibaba's ( NYSE: BABA ) ( OTCPK:BABAF ) finance affiliate, Ant Group is developing its own large-language model, or LLM, known as Zhenyi, Reuters reported citing a spokesperson of the company.
However, no additional information about the LLM was provided by the Jack Ma-backed company which owns one of the world's largest mobile payment platform called Alipay.
Following the release of Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed OpenAI's ChatGPT, Chinese companies including Alibaba, SenseTime ( OTCPK:SNTMF ) and Baidu ( BIDU ) have launched their own generative AI services. According to a recent study , Chinese organizations have launched 79 LLMs in the past three years in an effort to boost their AI technology capabilities.
Earlier in June, it was reported that Alibaba was is building its latest artificial intelligence, or AI, system into its messaging app DingTalk and a meeting assistant called Tingwu. The LLM by Alibaba Cloud called Tongyi Qianwen, is now behind the interactions with a new version of the assistant, known as Tongyi Tingwu.
Microsoft is even providing access to LLMs from OpenAI to the users of its Azure Government cloud computing service, which include several U.S. federal agencies.
