- BAE Systems ( OTCPK:BAESY ) has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) for the Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) program.
- The 10-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract has a total value of $4.1B, and BAE Systems is one of eight companies that will bid for work under the CANES program.
- CANES is a next-generation tactical afloat network as part of the U.S. Navy's modernization planning to upgrade cybersecurity, command and control, communications, and intelligence systems afloat.
- Under the contract, BAE will be responsible for procurement and production of afloat network devices, spares, laboratory equipment, initial software, software renewal, and maintenance services for surface, shore, and submarine platforms.
