Beyond Meat (NASDAQ: BYND) will be introducing a steak substitute in grocery stores on Monday. The new addition will be available nationwide at over 5,000 Kroger and Walmart locations, as well as Albertsons, Ahold Delhaize, Jewel-Osco, Sprouts, and other local grocers.
“Beyond Steak is a highly-anticipated expansion of our popular beef platform and we’re proud to introduce this innovative product to consumers nationwide,” Dariush Ajami, Chief Innovation Officer at Beyond Meat, said in the company’s press release.
According to the company, the new product has the texture and taste of sliced steak tips with the necessary nutritional and environmental benefits of plant-based meat. Hormone-free, antibiotic and GMO-, along with 21 grams of protein and 0 milligrams of cholesterol per serving. Beyond Steak can be prepared in a skillet or air fryer in only 5 minutes, the company stated.
Sustainability is a growing priority for consumers and Beyond Meat has vowed to provide high-quality products with a lower environmental impact. The company stated that the Steak substitute is a better-for-you frozen option that is also easy to cook, portionable, and satisfying.
The plant-based meat substitutes producer is expected to report its third-quarter results after the bell on November 9.
