BlackRock ( NYSE: BLK ) is pushing its staff back to the office at least four days a week starting Sept. 11, according to a Tuesday memo seen by Seeking Alpha.
In September 2021, the New York-based asset manager reportedly launched its return-to-office pilot program , calling for more than half of its personnel to work in the office at least three days a week.
“Career development happens in teaching moments between team members, and it is accelerated during market-moving moments, when we step up and get into the mix,” BlackRock's Chief Operating Officer Rob Goldstein and Caroline Heller, global head of human resources, said in the memo to employees. “All of this requires us to be together in the office.”
Staff will have the flexibility to work from home one day a week.
The changes in BlackRock's work-from-home policy comes after the World Health Organization earlier this month ended the global public health emergency designation for COVID-19.
Other major financial institutions have also started to move back towards in-office work. In April, for instance, JPMorgan Chase's ( JPM ) managing directors were reportedly expected to be in the office five days a week.
