The first three names are more familiar because they represented extremely powerful and anomalous hurricanes that wreaked havoc this past fall from which Caribbean islands and Gulf Coast states have yet to recover. The last names are less familiar as they are a selection of devastating wildfires blown in by gale-force Santa Ana winds that strafed Southern California; defoliating fires that led to subsequent deaths due to mudslides from heavy rains.
