- France's consumer price inflation rate eased to 5.6% year-on-year in March 2023, down from a 38-year high of 6.3% hit in February and broadly in line with market expectations of 5.5%, a preliminary estimate showed.
- Still, the rate remained well above the ECB's target of 2.0%.
- In February 2023, household consumption expenditure on goods fell over one month by 0.8% in volume after a rise of 1.7% in January – revised data.
- Energy inflation slowed to 4.9 percent from 14.1 percent the month before, and the services rate inched lower to 2.9 percent from 3.0 percent.
