- U.S. department store retail chain Kohl's ( NYSE: KSS ) on Thursday named Tom Kingsbury as permanent CEO.
- Kingsbury had been named interim top boss effective Dec. 2022 after previous CEO Michelle Gass moved to Levi's ( LEVI ).
- Kingsbury had been a member of KSS' board since 2021, after being added as part of an agreement with activist investor Macellum.
- The New York Times last week reported that KSS was close to naming Kingsbury as permanent CEO.
- Gass's tenure as CEO at KSS was a tumultuous affair , as the company's comparable sales slumped over the past year amid macro-economic headwinds.
- Levi's ( LEVI ) in Nov. 2022 named Gass as its president and paved the way for her to eventually take on the CEO role.
- Kohl's ( KSS ) stock was down 2.2% to $33.30 after hours.
