Lions Gate Entertainment ( NYSE: LGF.A ) ( NYSE: LGF.B ) has reinstated the mask requirement for roughly half of its staff at its Santa Monica headquarters, in response to the resurgence in COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles, Deadline reported citing an internal company email.
The mask mandate was put in place for the third and fifth floors of the five-story building, effective immediately, as many employees recently tested positive for the virus.
Every employee is also required to self-test before coming to the office and stay at home if any symptoms start to show or if they've traveled internationally in the last 10 days, the report said .
The U.S. has been seeing a resurgence in COVID cases, with the new variant EG.5 (also called Eris) being the dominant strain in the country. There is no evidence of any of the new strains causing more serious infections than earlier variants.
Shares of COVID vaccine makers rose on Monday as COVID hospitalizations were on the rise ahead of the rollout of updated shots this fall.
Novavax ( NVAX ), Moderna ( MRNA ), and BioNTech ( BNTX ) in collaboration with Pfizer ( PFE ) are all set to release new shots to address newer strains of the virus.
