I recently profiled Colombia's state-owned oil company, Ecopetrol ( EC ).

In that article, I highlighted why I was bullish on Colombia in general, but not as excited about the oil industry and thus EC stock in particular. As a quick summary, Colombia has its next presidential election coming up in the first half of 2026. Conservatives are likely to win, and the swing to a pro-business government should lead to an accelerating economy along with improved investor sentiment.
