It seems I am growing more skeptical by the year. Despite massive technology innovations since I was going to college in the 1980s, things appear to continually get worse on myriad fronts. As but example, appliances have many more capabilities than they did 40 years ago. They also seem to break down more frequently as they have many more moving parts and rely now on a globalized supply chain. A recent survey showed 77 percent of U.S. consumers stated that they have experienced a product or service problem within the last 12 months. This is up from 32% when this annual survey first started to be conducted in 1976. The cost of a good steak dinner for two with a decent bottle of wine now costs as much as my monthly rent of the apartment I had back in college....
