Introduction

We start writing this with the US market closed for Independence Day, and the “Big Beautiful Bill” having just been passed. Everything’s “Hunky Dory”. Forget tariffs - that’s yesterday’s news, it’s as if it never happened … That’s the expression we have found ourselves constantly repeating over the last few years - whether it be the pandemic, debt crisis, Russia/Ukraine war, Middle East and Asian conflicts, and now “Trump tariffs”. And it appears that the market is continuing to rise on news that new tariff deals have been struck. But we thought the June rally had already signified the end of tariff uncertainty....
