Flex Announces U.S. Manufacturing Collaboration with AMD to Accelerate Domestic AI Infrastructure

Flex Ltd. has announced a significant collaboration with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing of AI infrastructure in the United States. This partnership marks the start of manufacturing the AMD Instinct MI355X GPU platform at Flex's facility in Austin, Texas, with an expansion planned for future generations of the Instinct platform to meet the rising demand for large-scale AI deployments in data centers.

The production at Flex will encompass the assembly of an advanced system that integrates eight AMD Instinct GPUs along with essential components like PCIe® Gen 5 interfaces and high-bandwidth memory. The platforms will undergo stringent factory testing and validation processes, including the use of specialized liquid-cooling technology provided by JetCool, a subsidiary of Flex. This initiative is designed to enhance the scalability and reliability of AI infrastructure for data center operators.
