GoPro Subscribers Contribute Over 300,000 Hours of Video Content for AI Data Licensing

MWN-AI** Summary

GoPro, Inc. (NASDAQ: GPRO) has announced a significant milestone in its AI Training program, with subscribers contributing over 300,000 hours of video content. This achievement marks more than a doubling of available content since the program's launch in Q3 2025, reflecting heightened subscriber engagement, particularly considering the initial rollout was limited to a select group of subscribers.

In response to this early success, GoPro plans to expand its AI Training program to a broader audience of its 2.42 million subscribers. The initiative allows subscribers to opt-in and monetize their cloud-based video content by licensing it for use in training third-party AI models. GoPro shares 50% of the licensing revenue generated with participating subscribers, presenting a new revenue stream for both the company and its users.

Nicholas Woodman, GoPro's founder and CEO, expressed optimism about the program, emphasizing its potential to create meaningful opportunities for subscribers while enhancing GoPro’s business model. The program was launched in August 2025 as an exclusive offer to a few thousand U.S. subscribers, which has now evolved due to the overwhelming response.

GoPro continues to negotiate partnerships for third-party AI training licensing deals, promising an exciting future for its video content utilization. The company encourages inquiries regarding partnerships and seeks to enhance engagement through its broader community of subscribers.

This initiative not only represents a leap in GoPro’s strategy to utilize its subscriber-generated content but also capitalizes on the growing demand for diverse video data in AI model training. Investors and interested parties should stay tuned for further developments as GoPro navigates this promising avenue for growth amidst a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

MWN-AI** Analysis

GoPro, Inc. (NASDAQ: GPRO) recently announced a significant milestone in its AI Training program, where subscribers have contributed over 300,000 hours of video content for licensing purposes. This development signals a promising avenue for revenue generation and subscriber engagement, as GoPro works to monetize this content effectively.

The strong engagement from subscribers, especially considering the program initially involved a limited group, reflects the potential scalability of GoPro’s initiative. With over 2.42 million subscribers, the company is now expanding the program's reach, indicating confidence in the value of user-generated content for third-party AI training. Investors should view this as a strategic move that not only diversifies GoPro’s revenue streams but also boosts subscriber loyalty and platform engagement.

Moreover, with the ongoing negotiations for third-party licensing deals, the potential for added revenue cannot be overstated. As GoPro anticipates capturing a share of the burgeoning AI market, the prospect of turning subscriber-generated content into a lucrative asset places the company in a competitive position. Analysts suggest that successful execution of this program could lead to a tangible increase in revenue, enhancing GoPro’s financial standing.

However, investors should remain cautious of risks including regulatory hurdles related to AI data licensing, market competition, and subscriber participation rates that have been highlighted in GoPro’s disclosures. With the AI training data market evolving, challenges such as privacy concerns and technical issues in content distribution may impact program performance.

In conclusion, while the recent successes indicate a promising trajectory for GoPro, stakeholders should closely monitor developments related to the AI Training program and its integration into GoPro’s overall strategy. The upcoming earnings reports could provide further insights into this initiative's financial impact, aiding investor decision-making.

SAN MATEO, Calif., Dec. 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- GoPro, Inc. (NASDAQ: GPRO) today announced that GoPro subscribers have contributed more than 300,000 hours of video content to its AI Training program — more than doubled since Q3 the amount of content available for license to partners developing AI models. This 300,000 hour milestone reflects strong subscriber engagement given the relatively small number of subscribers invited to participate in the program's initial rollout.

In light of the program's early success with subscriber participation, GoPro is expanding its AI Training program to a larger pool of GoPro subscribers in anticipation of 3rd-party AI training licensing deals currently in negotiation. As of its last earnings call, GoPro had more than 2.42 million subscribers with more than 13 million hours of highly diversified content stored in the GoPro cloud.

"We believe this program represents a meaningful opportunity for our subscribers and for GoPro, and we're encouraged with the engagement we've seen since launching the program," said Nicholas Woodman, GoPro's founder and CEO. "Reaching 300,000 hours is a solid milestone, and we're excited to open participation up to more subscribers while we advance our 3rd-party licensing negotiations."
