I always keep an eye out for irrational false narratives that frequently take the stock market by storm and lead to some terrific bargains - but also to some terrific duds. As I outlined in a recent Seeking Alpha article, Broadcom belongs in the "terrific bargain" bin because it did not deserve - by any stretch of the imagination - to be put in the same category as Oracle after its Q3 earnings report (see " Broadcom: What So Many Analysts And Investors Got Wrong - Buy The Dip "). In the second category (terrific duds), I would put recent unbridled investor enthusiasm over energy companies like Exxon ( XOM ), Chevron ( CVX ), and ConocoPhillips ( COP ) as a result of President Trump's initiatives (for lack of a better word ...) down in Venezuela....
